A painted scale miniature of a kneeling Civil War–era infantryman (Union style dark blue uniform). The figure is posed kneeling on its right knee with a rifle held upright and the butt resting on the base (next to a short log). Visible accessories: forage cap, leather satchel across the left hip, cartridge box and shoulder straps, boots, and a long musket with wooden stock. No parts of the miniature are cut off by the image border; the entire figure and its base are contained in the frame. Note: a tall white rectangular occlusion overlays the center-right of the figure, covering most of the face and part of the torso/shoulder area (this is an occlusion, not cropping).
