This mid-century circular gas-station canopy with central kiosk is modeled directly from a street photograph of a 1950s-style roadside service island. The canopy is a thin, saucer-like metal disc with a continuous rounded rim band (the original shows a red trim band that has been preserved as a paintable element) and a small centered dome detail. The underside is modeled as a flat plane to create a clear shadow and to simplify mounting to layouts. A compact glazed kiosk sits under the canopy; glazing is simplified for painting and optional clear-sheet glazing. You will receive one master STL scaled to 1:87 (HO) that includes the canopy, kiosk, and a minimal groundplate to aid in installation. The file has clean, manifold geometry and preserves radial symmetry. Occluded image areas (an upper-left canopy quadrant and some rear kiosk faces) were modeled conservatively and intentionally left plain so you can customize signage and detail to match your scene. Printing and finishing tips: the canopy forms a broad shallow overhang. For the cleanest finish, split the canopy and kiosk before printing so the canopy can be printed top-down with minimal supports while the kiosk prints upright with supports around glazing. If you keep it as one piece, use light tree supports under the column and kiosk, and increase shell/perimeter counts to strengthen the rim. Paint the rim band (red in the reference) after priming and use clear acetate for glazing. Scale conversion note: this product ships as a single 1:87 master STL; to print in other scales uniformly rescale the model and check rim/column thicknesses for printability. Ideal uses: HO model railroad layouts, 1950s dioramas, tabletop scenery, and retro roadside displays. No logos or readable signage are included, making the piece easy to adapt.
