A handsome double-track railway tunnel portal with two brick-lined arched bores flanking a central stone pier. The face is dressed stone with a moulded cornice and dentil course above, and splayed retaining wing walls sweep out to either side to hold back the embankment.

The crisp brick voussoirs and cut-stone facing give it a solid, classic look suited to mainline scenes from the steam era onward.
