Timber Frame Dairy Milking Parlor

A long, low dairy milking parlor built on a timber post-and-beam frame, with vertical board walls set between exposed posts and a rubble stone skirt running along the base. Two raised roof monitors with louvred sides run along the ridge to vent heat and moisture from the milking floor.

The gable end carries a pair of tall doors wide enough to move stock through, with a hayloft-style opening and louvred vents above. Along the flank are a service door, small multi-pane windows and a stepped concrete apron poured around the whole footprint for wash-down.

A strong anchor building for a working farm scene: link it to a holding yard, a bulk tank room and a lane back to the pasture. On a rural layout it gives a milk-run branch line an obvious reason to exist, and it suits anything from a mid-century to a present-day dairy.
