This sculpt reproduces a compact mid-century tabletop cathode ray tube television intended as an interior prop for era-correct dioramas, HO model-railroad roomsets, and small display vignettes. The design emphasizes the visual cues common to 1950s domestic sets: a modestly convex screen plane framed by a simple bezel; a recessed control bay sized to read as two rotary knob bosses; a shallow patterned speaker grille modeled as low-relief texture so it survives printing at HO scale; and a single-piece rectangular cabinet with softened corners and subtle bevels to read as lacquered wood or Bakelite when finished.

Distinctive visible features

- Convex screen: The front face centers on a slightly convex screen surface sized to read at 1:87. The bezel is modest to keep the silhouette correct for interior scenes.

- Control bay and knob bosses: To the right of the screen the model shows a recessed control area with two circular boss details interpreted as rotary knobs. These bosses are modeled slightly raised so they accept paint highlights or optional tiny printed knobs if you prefer removable details.

- Speaker grille: Rather than pierced holes, the speaker area is interpreted as a shallow raised pattern. This choice preserves readability after common hobby printing methods at HO scale and avoids fragile thin walls.

- Cabinet and base: The cabinet is a single-piece housing with softened corners and subtle bevels. A small angled base/foot is included to let the prop sit steadily in an interior vignette.

Modeling decisions and finishing options

No maker badges, text, or specific commercial identifiers are included; the part is deliberately generic so it can read as woodgrain, painted metal, or Bakelite depending on finish. The single-piece cabinet simplifies printing and finishing: print the whole object as one piece and paint the bezel and control bosses, or print tiny drop-in knobs separately if you prefer removable detail. The recessed control bosses are sized to survive handling and to accept a small dab of gloss on painted knobs for contrast.

What you receive and scale guidance

- One optimized master file scaled to HO (1:87). Miniature Reality distributes a single HO master; customers rescale in their slicer to print at other scales. To print at a different scale, uniformly scale the file in your slicer. Example conversion: to print at O scale (1:48) scale the geometry by a factor of 87/48 (~1.81×). When changing scale, test-print a small detail patch (a knob boss or portion of the grille) to confirm the texture and bosses read at your target resolution.

Printing notes

For best fidelity on the grille pattern and knob bosses, use 0.10–0.20 mm layer height for filament printing or standard high-detail resin settings. Orient the model with the backplate on the build plate to minimize supports across the screen and grille. If supports must touch the screen face, use small localized supports and remove them gently to avoid marring shallow relief detail. Light sanding, a thin primer, washes and drybrushing will help the grille pattern and knob bosses read strongly in finished paintwork.

Intended uses

This television prop is aimed at hobbyists building domestic interiors, station waiting rooms, barber shop vignettes, living-room sets, and other small scenes where a period-correct CRT silhouette establishes era at HO scale. It fits HO railway interiors and 1:87 diorama roomsets, and also works well as a focal accessory in desk displays, tabletop roleplaying scenery, or board game layouts.

Limitations and customization

This is a stylized period prop, not a faithful replica of any single commercial model. The grille is intentionally modeled as shallow relief to avoid fragile thin walls; if you prefer pierced grille holes, request a custom variant. If you require maker-accurate historical reference, internal separations, or hollowed cavities for electronics, request a custom modeling pass.

License and reseller notes

The design is intentionally generic to allow multiple finish interpretations and compatibility with aftermarket knobs and decals. Miniature Reality supplies one HO master; rescale in your slicer for other scales. The item is permitted for personal and small commercial projects under the seller's license (see store terms for specifics).
