Trackside Communications Equipment Shelter

A small steel utility cabinet standing on its own concrete pad. The body is painted a worn blue-grey, with a shallow overhanging roof cap and two louvred ventilation grilles set into the upper front panel.

Twin doors are hung on chunky rusted strap hinges and secured with a hasp and a heavy padlock. A pair of orange conduits runs up the side wall through cast clamps and elbows into the roof, and the base is bolted down at each corner.

A useful piece of lineside clutter beside a railway signal box, at the foot of a mast, or along an industrial fence line. It also works as a relay hut, power cabinet or objective marker on a modern or near-future wargaming board.
