Balance Scale with Gold Weights

A classic two-pan balance scale with an ornate central column and scrolled feet. Chains suspend the shallow pans from the crossbeam, and one pan is loaded with small gold ingots or coins, tipping the balance.

The decorative baluster stand and hanging pans give it the look of a merchant's or apothecary's weighing scale. The chains, pans, and stacked gold read clearly as a small tabletop instrument.
