A weathered prospector drops to one knee on a gravel bar and tilts a shallow brass pan toward himself, swirling the last of the water off a scatter of bright gold flecks caught in the bottom. His head is bowed and his eyes are fixed on the catch.

He is dressed for hard country in a long oilcloth coat worn open, a blue work shirt under mud-stained canvas trousers held by braces, a battered slouch hat, and scuffed lace-up boots, with a full grey beard and lined face. The base is sculpted as a river bank strewn with worn stones.

He is made for an Old West gold-rush creek, a mining camp, a boomtown outskirt, or a frontier river crossing on an 1880s diorama or narrow-gauge layout.
