A mid-century underground miner cast as a powderman, the crew member who charged the blast holes at the working face. He wears a one-piece canvas work suit, a hard hat with a mounted cap lamp, a leather tool pouch on a wide belt, and tall rubber boots pulled up over the knee.

Both hands cradle a paper-wrapped explosive cartridge at chest height, as if he is about to tamp it home. The silhouette reads clearly from the side, so he sits well at the mouth of an adit, beside an ore car, or deep in a timbered drift scene.

Suits 1940s to 1960s mining, quarry and heavy-industry layouts, and pairs naturally with skips, mine railway track and rough-cut rock walls.
