1950s Logging Camp Powder Man

A mid-century logging crew powder man, bent forward as he handles a grey blasting cartridge with a fuse looped down toward his belt. He wears a heavy red and black plaid wool shirt, a dark green knit watch cap, cuffed brown work trousers and tall lace-up caulk boots with visible hobnail soles.

A leather belt pouch on the hip holds his cutting and crimping tools, and the fuse is sculpted as a continuous cord running from the charge to the pouch. The hands are cupped around the charge in a careful, deliberate grip that reads clearly even at small sizes.

He suits a 1950s Pacific Northwest logging camp diorama, a stump-clearing or road-building vignette on a timber-hauling railroad layout, or any rural North American work scene set between the 1940s and 1960s.
