Village Blacksmith at the Anvil

A working blacksmith caught mid-strike at his anvil, hammer raised in one hand and iron tongs gripping a glowing hot workpiece in the other. He wears a flat cap, a rolled-sleeve shirt, and a heavy leather apron over sturdy work trousers and boots, standing on a small cobblestone base.

The anvil sits on a chunky wooden stump, with the orange heat of the metal picked out at the point of the strike. The bearded face, muscular forearms, and focused posture give the piece plenty of narrative character.
