Young Yak

A young domestic yak stands foursquare with its head slightly turned, showing the breed's short upcurved horns, broad muzzle and gentle eye. A dense, shaggy coat drapes in long matted locks from the shoulders, flanks and belly, thinning to smoother fur over the face and legs.

The stocky, low-slung body sits on short sturdy legs ending in cloven hooves. Fur texture, the fringe skirt along the underside and the muscular hump give it a convincing highland-cattle look.

A characterful livestock piece for Himalayan, farmstead and mountain-pasture dioramas, model railway rural scenes and wargame terrain, or a single animal for a display base.
