Detailed description

This listing reproduces an aircraft cargo pallet — the low-profile ULD-style ground support pallet commonly used to secure airline freight and unit load devices. The geometry visible in the reference shows a rectangular flat pallet with a grid of reinforcing ribs across the top face, an inward lip around the perimeter, multiple recessed tie-down/lashing fittings spaced along the edges, and fork pockets beneath the platform. The perimeter features distinct clamp/latch housings and corner retention details; several small gussets and standoffs are present on the skirt, consistent with real-world GSE pallets designed for forklift and conveyor handling.

What you get

- One HO / 1:87 master STL scaled to a typical hobbyist HO footprint (see conversion notes below). This master is intended as the single authoritative file for scaling to other ratios. The geometry preserves the top reinforcement grid, perimeter tie-down rings, fork pocket openings and the external latch housings visible in the reference.

Use cases

This pallet is ideal for airport ramp and loading-bay dioramas, aircraft interiors or cargo-hold mockups, maintenance and logistics scenes, and layout scatter for HO-scale railway freight terminals. It works as a standalone prop, grouped in stacks, or fitted under small cargo containers and crates in tight, realistic cargo arrangements.

Visible features called out

- Top grid: shallow rectangular reinforcement ribs that break up the flat top surface into a checkerboard of panels.

- Perimeter skirt: raised skirt around the edges with molded latch housings; these include small hooked fittings for straps or locks.

- Tie-down fittings: multiple recessed lashing rings and anchor housings set into the perimeter and near the corners, modeled with clear radii for printing.

- Fork pockets: rectangular openings in the base skirt allowing realistic forklift or dolly placement in a diorama scene.

- Corner details: slight chamfers and reinforcement pads where pallets typically see wear and load bearing.

Print notes and recommended setup (for printer-savvy hobbyists)

- Orientation: the pallet prints cleanest with the broad face down on the build plate when possible, or on a slight angle to reduce long unsupported overhangs. If printing flat, expect fine surface finish on the top grid; if printing on its side, you may reduce required supports under the skirt and fork pockets.

- Supports: small internal recesses and tie-down fittings may need minimal supports depending on nozzle size and printer profile. Thin features around latch housings are modeled with printable thicknesses but consider a slightly higher line count or slower print speed to keep crisp detail.

- Detail preservation: the top ribs and fittings are intentionally shallow to read at HO scale; printers with a 0.4 mm nozzle or smaller will capture the best detail.

Scale and delivery

This product is released with a single HO master file at 1:87 ratio. The master is provided so hobbyists can print directly for HO/00 layouts or rescale for other model scales using their slicer or CAD tool. Because this listing supplies one HO master, buyers rescaling to different ratios should check the final printed footprint for clearance under conveyors, fork tines, or vehicle loaders in their target scene.

Notes and provenance

The source for this geometry was a legacy pipeline stub labelled as an aircraft cargo pallet (GSE). The listing text above references only the visible geometry and function as observed in the reference image. No brand markings or identifying manufacturer information appears in the source imagery; therefore no maker name is claimed.

Printing and finishing reminder

Because scale and condition vary between layouts and printers, examine the base clearance and fork pocket widths relative to your minifigures or forklift accessories before final installation. Minor model-specific adjustments (e.g., slightly enlarging fork pockets) may be useful to guarantee fit with other aftermarket printed accessories.

Licensing and reuse

This listing covers the master file for hobby use in personal projects and for resale of physical prints where platform rules allow. Commercial reuse beyond that should follow the platform licensing terms.

Conversion blurb

A single 1:87 master STL is supplied. To print at other ratios, scale the master in your slicer/3D tool by the target ratio factor (for example, to 1:48 multiply the master by 87/48). When upscaling or downscaling, check thin features such as latch housings and tie-down rings for minimum printable thickness before finalizing the print.
