Grass Sod Patch Section

A square cut of turf lifted straight from the ground: dense upright blades of grass on top, a solid band of layered soil below, and a tangle of pale roots spilling down and out over the cut faces.

The edges are irregular rather than machined, so several patches can be laid side by side to build a lawn, a verge or a partly re-turfed area without repeating an obvious pattern. The blade clumps vary in height and lean, which keeps the surface from looking flat once painted.

Handy groundwork for garden and park dioramas, farm and pasture layouts, or as a repair patch over bare board on a wargame table.
