A bearded Hasidic gentleman in traditional dress: a long dark blue frock coat worn open over a green waistcoat and white shirt, dark trousers and plain leather shoes. A wide-brimmed black felt hat sits over side curls, and knotted tzitzit fringes hang from beneath the waistcoat.

The pose is animated and low, knees bent and both hands spread wide as though mid-step in a celebratory dance. Coat tails and lapels are sculpted with real fabric movement, and the beard and side curls are cut deep enough to take a wash cleanly.

He fits an early twentieth-century city street, a market quarter or a synagogue-side vignette in a period diorama, and adds welcome variety to the crowd on a town layout.
