A craftsman at the glassworks blows and shapes a glowing gather of molten glass on the end of a long steel blowpipe. He wears protective goggles, a leather apron over a work shirt, and heavy trousers, cheeks drawn as he blows down the pipe.

The bright molten gob, the extended blowpipe, and the concentrated stance capture the heat and skill of the hot shop. Apron folds, goggles, and rolled sleeves are cleanly detailed for painting.
