1880s Gold Prospector with Rocker Box

An old placer miner working a wooden rocker box: he grips the timber handle in both hands and leans into the stroke, boots planted wide on a gravel bar, while the plank-and-iron cradle tips toward him with dark washed gravel still sitting in its hopper.

The figure is deep in character - broad-brimmed felt hat, full grey beard, a long weathered duster over a teal work shirt, canvas trousers and tall laced boots. Board joints, corner straps and rivet lines are sculpted into the rocker box, and the integral base is a rough gravel wash with flecks in the spoil.

A strong storytelling piece for an Old West goldfields diorama, a creek-side claim on a mining branch line layout, or a boomtown scene that needs a working miner rather than another figure standing still.
