Loaded Army Pack Mule

A standing pack mule carrying a full military load, modelled on a rounded dirt groundwork base. The head is up and turned slightly outward, ears pricked forward, with the lean muscling and heavy jaw of a working animal clearly through the coat.

The load is the star: a wooden pack saddle carrying stacked canvas panniers and ammunition boxes, a bedroll and shelter half lashed across the top, a folded entrenching tool, a coiled lead rope hung at the shoulder and a strapped drum-shaped case on the near flank. Leather headstall, bit, breast strap and girth are all sculpted separately from the load.

Use him for a supply column climbing a mountain track, a battery moving guns forward, or a rear-area depot scene in almost any conflict from the nineteenth century through the Second World War. He also works for a frontier prospecting party or a fantasy baggage train, and gives a wargaming force a natural objective marker.
