Logging Chokerman Hauling Cable

A logging crewman braced back on his heels, both gloved hands hauling on a short steel choker cable with a wedge fitting on the end. His shoulders are set and his weight is thrown backwards, so the strain reads even without the log attached.

He wears a blue knitted watch cap, a red and black plaid wool shirt buttoned to the throat, blue jeans and heavy laced logging boots, all worn and scuffed at the knees and cuffs.

Written for a mid-century timber operation: setting chokers behind a yarder or skidder, working a landing beside a log truck, or adding life to a sawmill scene on a period railroad layout.
