A Victorian-era fireman striding out of a fire with a limp child cradled across both arms, the child's head against his shoulder and bare feet hanging free. The whole group is a single dramatic rescue vignette on a round base.

Period kit is clearly cut: a leather fire helmet with a front shield and long rear brim, a heavy double-breasted turnout coat with a wide belt and buckle, tucked trousers and tall laced leather boots. The child wears a loose shirt and rolled trousers.

Purpose-built as the emotional centre of a 1880s town-fire diorama - place him beside a steam pumper, a burning storefront, or a crowd of onlookers on a Victorian street layout.
