Ice Fisherman Spearing Through a Hole

An ice fisherman drives a long-handled fish spear down through an open hole, shoulders hunched and both hands locked on the shaft. He is bundled against the cold in a quilted navy parka over a grey sweater, insulated green bib trousers with orange stitching and heavy brown pac boots, topped with a fur-flapped trapper hat.

The base is a slab of cracked blue-white ice with slush piled at the hole edge, and it comes dressed with a plastic bucket, a coiled rope, a skimmer scoop and an ice auger blade lying ready.

A complete self-contained winter vignette for a frozen lake scene, a north-country layout, or a snowbound diorama. Add a shanty, a sled and a second angler to build out a whole ice-fishing camp.
