1880s Lumberjack Driving a Felling Wedge

A woods camp axeman swings a heavy sledge overhead with both hands while holding a steel felling wedge ready in front of him. He wears a red-and-black plaid wool shirt with the sleeves pushed up, a dark green knitted watch cap, and thick brown trousers stuffed into calked lace-up boots.

A sheathed knife hangs from his belt and the torso is twisted into the top of the swing, so the piece has genuine momentum rather than a static stance.

Built for an 1880s logging camp, a river drive landing or a timber-cut diorama, and equally at home beside a log skid or a narrow-gauge logging spur on a layout.
