A timber worker braced wide with both hands gripping the wooden handle of a long toothed crosscut felling saw, the blade held out horizontally at waist height mid-stroke.

He wears a red knit watch cap, a blue work shirt with the sleeves rolled and dark braces over the shoulders, heavy wool trousers and tall laced logging boots, with a short beard and a hard, weathered face.

Pair him with a second sawyer for a two-man felling cut, or place him at a stump, a log deck or a skidway in a nineteenth-century logging camp, sawmill yard or timber branch line scene.
