1880s Gandy Dancer with Lining Bar

A nineteenth-century track labourer heaves on a long steel lining bar, both hands wrapped around the shaft and his weight thrown back to shift the rail. He wears a soft blue flat cap, a collarless shirt with the sleeves rolled, a brown waistcoat with braces, and heavy work trousers over scuffed boots.

The oval base is finished as bare ballast and dirt, matching a section of open track.
