An underground miner striding forward with a long-handled sledgehammer carried across his body, head turned to the side as if watching the roof or a signal down the drift.
He wears mid-century pit kit: a grey hard hat with a mounted cap lamp and cable running back to a battery, dirt-streaked blue coveralls with a wide leather belt and a battery pouch, leather knee pads strapped over the trousers, and tall buckled work boots. The coveralls are sculpted with heavy soiling and creases at the knees and elbows.
Use him in a mine portal, drift or shaft-head diorama, at a colliery or ore-loading scene on an industrial layout, or as part of a mine-rescue or trackwork crew alongside ore cars and timber sets.
