An underground miner in blue coveralls, leaning slightly forward with both hands closed around a control lever as if driving a haulage locomotive. A yellow hard hat carries a cap lamp on the brow, with its cable running down his back to a battery pack clipped on the belt.
Strapped knee pads sit over the coverall legs, and heavy brown rubber boots are pulled up to mid-calf. The uniform is plain working kit with no armour or ornament, exactly what a mid-century mine crew wore on shift.
Built for a colliery, a mine adit or an industrial narrow-gauge scene. Set him at the front of a mine motor and its string of tubs, or on a loading bank beside the shaft head, and the whole industrial corner gains a human focus.
