Logging Camp Signalman Pulling a Wire

The whole body is committed to the pull: back leg locked, front knee bent, shoulders twisted. That single line running off the piece is what tells the story, and it can be replaced with wire or thread of any length once he is on the board.

He fits a 1940s-to-1960s North American logging camp, a yarding operation, a log landing or a timber-hauling rail spur. Equally usable as a rigger, a bell-cord man or a general woodsman on a rural scene of the period.
