1950s Railroad Spike Driver

A mid-century track gang worker swinging a long-handled spike maul overhead, weight loaded onto a wide stance and both gloved hands wrapped high on the haft. He wears a soft blue peaked work cap, a rolled-sleeve chambray shirt and heavy bib overalls with a chest bib pocket, plus scuffed leather work boots.

The full overhead swing reads clearly from a distance, which makes him useful as the focal figure of a maintenance-of-way group. Place him over a tie with a spike, a rail joint, or a section of newly laid track and the whole scene explains itself.

Suited to 1940s-1960s American railway layouts, branch-line rebuild vignettes, and industrial yard dioramas. Combine with a bar-and-lining crew, a speeder, or a pile of ties for a busy work-site scene.
