A track gang labourer leaning into a pneumatic tie tamper, both gloved hands wrapped around the handles and the tool's steel shank driven down into the ballast between his feet. Head down, shoulders loaded - the pose sells the weight of the machine.

Period work dress is clearly cut: a soft flat cap, a blue chambray work shirt, blue denim bib overalls with buckled straps, heavy leather gauntlet gloves, and scuffed lace-up boots. He stands on a textured ballast base.

The centrepiece figure for a 1950s maintenance-of-way scene - group him with a section gang, a tool cart and a work train alongside the right of way, or use him at a grade crossing rebuild on a period layout.
