A modern underground miner working as an ore sampler, head down as he holds open a canvas sample bag and drops a chipped specimen into it. He wears blue cotton coveralls with reflective bands at the wrists, knees and ankles, a yellow hard hat with a lamp and trailing cord, and heavy leather gloves.
A tool belt carries pouches, a self-rescuer canister and a lamp battery. His posture is quiet and absorbed, which makes a good contrast to more active mining figures on the same base board.
Use him at a mine adit, a sampling station beside an ore chute, or a late twentieth-century industrial layout scene. He also works well grouped with drillers, muckers and a shift boss for a working mine level vignette.
