Track Worker Spreading Ballast

A railroad maintenance-of-way worker leaning into a long-handled four-tine ballast fork, arms extended and shoulders rolled forward as he drags stone back along the track shoulder.

He is a straightforward crew figure for a tie-and-ballast gang, a track-renewal scene beside a tamper or ballast hopper, or a grade-crossing rebuild on a modern-era railroad layout.
