A Victorian constable dropped onto one knee, leaning forward with a pair of iron handcuffs open in his hands as if about to secure a prisoner on the ground. He wears a blue tunic with red collar and cuff facings, brass buttons and shoulder cords, a spiked helmet with a brass plate and chin strap, a leather cross belt with a bayonet frog, breeches and tall boots.

The forward lean, planted front boot and lowered head all point at the same spot on the ground, so the figure works best paired with a prone or seated second figure. Facings, buttons, belt fittings and the helmet spike are cut sharply against the dark uniform.

Built for late nineteenth-century street and dockside scenes: an arrest outside a public house, a market disturbance or a railway yard confrontation on a period layout. It also suits gothic and steam-era gaming boards needing a law figure in action.
