A Victorian beat constable strides forward, pointing an accusing finger with one hand while holding open a pair of iron handcuffs in the other. He wears a dark blue high-collared tunic with a row of brass buttons, a numbered collar badge and a chest star.
A crossbelt runs over his shoulder to a leather pouch, and a wooden truncheon and lamp hang from his waist belt. The domed custodian helmet with its front plate finishes the silhouette.
He is cast on a cobblestone disc, ready for a gaslit alley chase, a market-square arrest or a station approach on a Victorian town diorama or an early railway layout.
