1880s City Constable Driving a Wagon

A Victorian city policeman posed seated with both hands out in front holding a looped pair of driving reins, ready to be placed on the bench of a wagon, van or trap. He wears the classic custodian helmet with a badge boss and chin strap, and a high-collared double-breasted tunic with two rows of buttons and a shoulder number.

A wide leather duty belt with a buckle sits at the waist, the tunic skirt falls over the thighs, and plain dark trousers break over heavy laced boots. The seated pose has a flat contact area under the thighs so it drops onto a driver's bench without adjustment; a plain round base is supplied for display on its own.

Ideal for a 1880s city street: a police van and prisoner escort, a station-house yard, a market patrol or a dockside scene. On a period layout he crews a horse-drawn wagon crossing the tracks or waiting at a goods depot.
