A stout nineteenth-century constable caught mid-bite on a bread roll, moustache bristling and one hand raised to his mouth. He wears a dark blue spiked helmet with a brass badge plate and chin chain, and a high-collared tunic with red piping, red cuffs and a double row of brass buttons.
A whistle hangs on a chain across his chest, a wide leather duty belt carries a pouch and a holstered sidearm on one hip and a long wooden truncheon on the other, and grey trousers run down to polished black boots on a cobbled ground base.
The uniform is classic continental European municipal policing of the 1870s to 1900s, so he suits a Victorian or Belle Epoque town street, a market square, a station forecourt or a gaslit alley. He works beautifully as a bit of comic relief among busier period street figures on a diorama or layout.
