A Victorian city policeman walks his beat with a hooded oil lantern held up and out at shoulder height to light the way ahead. His other arm swings loose at his side, and the head is turned slightly as if checking a doorway.
The uniform is period-correct in every detail: a tall domed custodian helmet with a starburst badge, a double-breasted navy tunic with two rows of brass buttons and pale blue piping at collar, cuffs and front edge, matching trousers, a broad leather duty belt with buckle, a pouch, and a wooden baton in a belt ring, over polished black boots.
He suits an 1880s gaslit street, a dockside alley, a police station frontage, or a foggy Victorian town diorama, and he works well as a watchman figure in gothic horror or investigative tabletop scenes.
