A moustached frontier marshal stands at ease reading a folded paper held out in both hands, head tipped down and one boot slightly forward. He wears a curl-brimmed felt hat, a long caped olive duster over a brown leather coat, a waistcoat and neckerchief, tan trousers and knee-high riding boots.

A gunbelt at his waist carries a nickel-finished revolver in an open holster, and a second folded document is tucked into the belt beside it.

A quiet, character-driven figure for an 1880s town: post him outside the jail, a telegraph office, a stage depot or a rail platform. He reads perfectly as a lawman studying a wanted notice or a warrant, giving a street scene a story rather than just another armed pose.
