A frontier lawman braced side-on and firing a long-barrelled revolver at arm's length. He wears a dark blue frock coat with the tails swept back, a red waistcoat over a collarless shirt, narrow pinstriped trousers and a low-crowned wide-brimmed hat pulled down over the eyes.
A second pistol and a knife ride on the belt beneath the open coat, and the coat tails have been cut so they lift and trail behind the stance rather than hanging flat.
Made for an 1870s-to-1890s Western scene: a main street shootout, a saloon doorway, a depot platform or a bank robbery in progress. He works as either the marshal or the villain depending on how the coat is painted.
