Overview

The Obsidian Tick Beast is a sculpted fantasy creature that combines arthropod anatomy with exaggerated, armor-like plates and ornamental pustules to create a threatening miniature focal point. The creature presents a squat, broad body covered in overlapping segmented carapace plates, sharp dorsal spikes, and clusters of wart-like surface detail. The forward anatomy features a set of protective plates surrounding a pair of mandible-like mouthparts and multiple short, jointed legs with armored guards and clawed terminations. The sculpt sits on a low round display base textured with cracked stone and shallow pooling to anchor the piece visually in a diorama or tabletop layout.

Notable features

- Distinct segmented carapace: large plates overlap along the dorsal surface, each plate edged with smaller spines and tooling marks that read clearly at miniature scale.

- Multiple defensive spikes: a variety of spike sizes rise from the shoulders and rear, giving a silhouette that reads as dangerous at distance and richly detailed up close.

- Mandibles and frontal detail: layered chitinous plates and clustered nodules frame the head, with deep undercuts and sculpted folds that suggest a hardened exoskeleton.

- Complex leg assemblies: the creature uses many stout jointed legs. Each limb has armored bands and clawed feet; the leg geometry is varied so individual limbs create compelling shadow and surface interest.

- Base integration: the sculpt is composed on a level round base with ground texture and shallow rock detail to assist placement in scenic compositions.

Intended use

This sculpt is intended as a tabletop gaming miniature, diorama centerpiece, or display figure for hobby painting and terrain integration. Its strong silhouette and surface variety make it ideal for painters who want contrast between glossy carapace plates and rough pustulated skin. For wargame and roleplaying tables the piece works as a monster token, boss creature, or terrain hazard when grouped with other figures.

Print and finishing notes

- Master scale: this product is supplied as a single 1:87 (HO) master STL intended for conversion and scaling to other hobby scales. Keep in mind that the master is optimized for detail retention at 1:87; scaling up will enlarge fine ornamentation while scaling down may require micro-detail adjustments.

- Structural considerations: the sculpt includes many small overhangs under the carapace edges and between leg segments; orient the piece to minimize supports across delicate spikes and mandibles. Where possible, print so the majority of unsupported geometry is on the underside of the base, and use targeted supports for the leg joints and large spikes.

- Surface detail: the sculpt has intentional deep texture and tools that hold paint and wash; prepare slight surface smoothing only if you prefer a less textured finish.

Packaging of deliverables

- One 1:87 (HO) master STL of the Obsidian Tick Beast scaled and positioned on a round display base suitable for hobby layouts.

- A short conversion blurb describing recommended scale multipliers and orientation advice for printing at common hobby scales.

Scale conversion blurb

The provided master is produced at 1:87 (HO). To adapt to other hobby scales, rescale the master by the ratio between your target scale denominator and 87. For example, to target 1:48 increase the mesh by 87/48 (~1.81×). When scaling significantly downward, inspect tiny spikes and thin elements and consider thickening or merging those details before printing.

Notes on provenance and uncertainty

This sculpt is an original fantasy creature design supplied as a legacy stage stub. No real-world biological prototype or branded source was supplied. Real-world dimensions of a hypothetical living specimen cannot be established from the sculpt alone; the product is therefore described and delivered as a hobby sculpt intended for printing and scenic use. The identity confidence for a specific real-world provenance is low and the listing is intended for hobbyists and painters seeking a fantasy arthropod creature.
