A Japanese ritual performer caught mid-movement in a wide, low stance with both arms swept out to the sides and bare feet planted on a sand ring.

He wears a tall black lacquered eboshi cap, a loose blue over-robe with wide sleeves, grey hakama-style trousers gathered at the ankle, and a patterned sash knotted at the waist. The tilted head and open hands read as a stamping step in a shrine dance.

Suited to a shrine festival diorama, a temple courtyard, a Japanese village layout, or an Edo-period tabletop scene.
